Our acid wash Damascus gets its color from soaking the ring in an acid bath, which adds texture to the surface of the ring. As it is impossible to predict exactly how the acid wash will react with each ring, the color can vary from a light grey to a darker grey. The examples below show how much variation there can be from ring to ring.

Our tumble finish Kuro Damascus also gets its coloring from an acid wash, which adds texture to the metal and darkens it to a light or darker grey. Because Kuro Damascus has much more dramatic patterns, it can vary a great deal from ring to ring. The coloring lasts longer than standard Damascus, as the deeper etching on Kuro Damascus protects the darker areas. However, it can still lighten some over time.
